1. France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center (CoRec)

Address: 355 N Martin Jischke Drive
Hours: Monday – Friday (6a.m.–8p.m.), Saturday & Sunday (10a.m.–5p.m.)
For most Purdue students, the CoRec is the go-to gym. Located directly on campus, Purdue’s recreation center is considered one of the best university gyms in the country thanks to its massive size, modern equipment and variety of workout spaces.
Students have access to:
- Large weight rooms
- Olympic lifting platforms
- Basketball courts
- Indoor tracks
- Cardio equipment
- Swimming pools
- Group fitness classes
- Rock climbing walls
The biggest advantage is convenience. Since it’s included in Purdue student fees, most students can walk over between classes or after studying without paying for a separate membership. Whether you’re lifting, running, swimming or taking fitness classes, the CoRec covers almost every type of workout in one place.
2. Parkwest Fitness

Address: 1330 Win Hentschel Boulevard
Hours: Monday – Friday (5 a.m.–10:30p.m.), Saturday (7 a.m.–9 p.m.), Sunday (7 a.m.– 7 p.m.)
If you want a quieter gym away from the crowds of campus, Parkwest Fitness is one of the top off-campus choices in West Lafayette. The gym offers free weights, squat racks, cardio machines, personal training, group fitness classes and indoor pool access.
Many graduate students and serious lifters prefer Parkwest because it tends to feel less packed than the CoRec during peak hours. It’s a strong option for students living farther from campus or anyone who prefers a more traditional gym environment.

3. Impact Zone Training Center

Address: 2781 Klondike Road
Hours: Monday – Thursday (6–7 a.m. & 9.a.m.–9 p.m.), Friday (6–7 a.m. & 9a.m.–7 p.m.), Saturday (8a.m.–1 p.m.)
For students interested in martial arts, boxing or MMA-style training, Impact Zone Training Center is one of the most highly recommended fitness spaces near Purdue.
The gym specializes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, MMA, conditioning and functional strength training. A lot of students enjoy the skill-based aspect of combat sports because workouts feel more engaging and goal-oriented than standard gym routines.
The strong community atmosphere also makes it easier to stay consistent. This is a great fit for students looking to improve fitness while learning something new.
4. Climb Lafayette

Address: 4650 Dale Drive
Hours: Tuesday – Friday (1–10 p.m.), Saturday & Sunday (10 a.m.–8 p.m.)
Climbing has become increasingly popular among college students, and Climb Lafayette offers one of the most unique workout experiences near Purdue.
The facility includes bouldering walls, top-rope climbing, auto-belay routes, climbing classes and yoga sessions. Unlike traditional gyms, climbing combines strength, endurance, coordination and problem-solving into one workout.
Many Purdue students enjoy it because it feels more interactive and social than standard lifting or cardio routines. It’s also an excellent cross-training option for students wanting a break from repetitive gym sessions.
5. Student Apartment Gyms

Finally, the easiest option if you’re looking to just get started or develop your consistent routine has to be your apartment’s gym. Specifically in student housing, these gyms tend to be on par with traditional commercial gyms, like Parkwest Fitness. Located just steps from your apartment, going to the gym in your complex can be a great way to get started, build fitness habits and see change without having to travel.
