We’ll break down everything you need to know about reletting at Rambler Riverfront, including how to relet your apartment, what’s required of you and any costs you should be prepared for.
1. Find a Reletter
If you want to relet your apartment at Rambler Riverfront, it’s your responsibility to find someone to take over your lease, and starting early makes a big difference.
Begin by reaching out to people you already know, like friends, classmates, group chats or club members. Think of it like finding a roommate: you’re looking for someone dependable who will be a good fit with your current roommates and rent.
If you’re still searching, turn to Purdue housing groups and West Lafayette Facebook pages.
Many students are looking for flexible, short-term housing, so posting early can help you secure a reletter faster.

2. Notify Management
To get started, email the leasing team and CC the person taking over your apartment so they can confirm they’re stepping in.
From there, they’ll complete the standard leasing process, including submitting an application and signing their own lease.
Keeping everyone on the same email thread helps avoid confusion and ensures the correct monthly rent is clearly reflected in their lease.
3. Reletter Application and Lease
Once you find someone to take your spot, they’ll need to fill out the Rambler Riverfront application, which usually takes about 15–30 minutes.
They’ll be asked for basic info like their ID, emergency contact, current address and pet details (if they have one), plus they’ll need to pass a background and credit check.
After they’re approved, they’ll sign their lease. To do that, they’ll either need a guarantor or qualify on their own, and they’ll need to have renter’s insurance ready.

Your reletter will also be responsible for standard fees, including an application fee, admin fee and security deposit (check the FAQ page for exact amounts).
Approval usually takes 3–5 business days, but starting early is key because if anything is missing, they won’t be able to take over your lease and you’ll still be responsible.
4. Pay your Reletting/Administrative Fees
After your reletter is approved, there’s a $350 admin fee you’ll need to pay.
You’ll also need to make sure all balances are cleared before we can send over your relet agreement.
Don’t want to find someone yourself? We can help! Our reletting service costs 85% of one month’s rent (so if your rent is $1,200, that’s $1,020) and includes marketing your unit and managing the process.

5. Relet Agreement
After completing the steps above, both you and your reletter must sign a relet agreement, which will outline the specific terms of the relet.
If either party fails to complete the relet agreement, it will not be approved, and you’ll remain responsible for the full lease term.
6. Finalize the Details
Once your reletter is approved and your move-out date arrives, return all keys and access devices to the leasing office. From there, the team will issue new keys to your reletter.
If anything isn’t returned, replacement fees will apply:
- $100 for a key fob
- $100 for a parking sticker
- $25 for a bedroom or mailbox key
After everything is completed, you’ll officially be released from your lease, and all responsibilities will transfer to your reletter.
