No Purdue tailgate list would be complete without the parking lots surrounding Ross-Ade Stadium. The IM Gold and Black lots, along with nearby parking become packed with tents, grills and student tailgates several hours before kickoff. This is the heart of the traditional Purdue football atmosphere and where you’ll find the largest crowds on game day.

Students typically arrive early to secure spots, especially during rivalry games or major Big Ten matchups. Expect music, cookouts and a mix of students, alumni and visiting fans throughout the day.

Slayter Hill is one of the most recognizable gathering spots on Purdue’s campus and turns into a major social hub during football weekends. While not a formal parking-lot tailgate setup, students often gather here before heading toward Ross-Ade.

Because of its elevated view and central location near campus housing, Slayter Hill becomes especially popular for underclassmen and larger student groups looking for an easy meetup point before kickoff.

On football Saturdays, the bar fills early with students, alumni and visiting fans grabbing drinks before heading toward kickoff. The atmosphere gets especially lively during rivalry weekends and night games, making it one of the most recognizable pregame traditions at Purdue.

Because of its location in Chauncey Hill, Harry’s is also one of the easiest places for students to stop before walking to the stadium with friends.
